Describe an advice you received on choosing major or work. You should say:

· what the advice was
I’m going to share with you this advice I have received cuz I believe it is THE MOST important advice that helped and influenced me greatly，which was: “To know yourself". Quite a simple one but, it means so much more to me than it sounds.
· When you received this advice
I clearly remembered it was when I was just graduated from university in my early 20's, I had to make a decision whether to continue my study or to begin working. To tell you the truth, I was extremely arrogant at that time. So I believed in myself so much that I convinced myself that I was ready and jumped right into work which turned out to be disaster because of my insufficient working experience and naive arrogance. Every time I assumed I would be successful, I would get whatever I wanted, I just failed even harder. I didn't respect people around me, and even my arrogance came out in every speech I made. So finally I turned to my Mom who I should have asked before about how to turn thing around, certainly she thought I was full of myself and irritated. She then told me once again “To know yourself ”! But I let my arrogance get in my way and totally ignored it. To put it more specific, according to my mom , ”To know yourself because what else is there to know?"
· and explain how you felt about it.
When we were kids, we didn't always realize that parents tell us what to do out of love. I discovered that she was right after a while. To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to gain a correct view of oneself and be a soberrealist -- to be aware of both one's strength and shortage. You may lookforward hopefully to the future but be sure not to expect too much. I think feeling small is the first step to knowing yourself. I assume we are afraid of facing the real us because we don't want to be small. But I think it's worth a try. Maybe it will tell us who we are. That's to say as long as you have a perfect knowledge of yourself there won't be difficulties you can't overcome, nor obstacles you can't surmount.
· What kinds of suggestion do we receive in our life?

It depends. Sometimes parents can give us better advice as they have more experience than we do, but sometimes our friends can Gove us more proper advice as their minds think a like as ours.
· What makes people choose the job they are currently doing?
A lot of reasons may account for ones choice of current job. For example salary, one’s interest, work place and work time.
· Can people choose their jobs freely?
I think people can partially choose what they want to do, but there aralso some factors that prevent people from chasing their dreams such as responsibility of supporting their family and so on.
· Can parents decide what children will major in the future?
I think if the children hav no idea bout their future and ask their parents for help, the parents could help them make decisions. But if the children have heir own wish, parents should respect their will.
· For students, when is the best time to study?
In the morning I think, as most people tend to be more sober in the morning than in the other tie of the day. And some scientists claim that people tend to have a better memory in the morning.
