What a great start to a sporting adventure with the Shanghai sports Association leagues. We took our under 15/19 badminton girls teams to represent Lucton last Saturday. All our girls performed really well. Our under 15s team managed to both reach the semi-finals of their competition. Unfortunately, they both lost but did get to play each other for the third place. Chloe and Isabella won a tight game against Joyce and Nancy. Our U19 team of Amelia and Fiona managed to reach the quarter-finals but unfortunately knocked out by a very strong French school pairing. We did manage to finish the day off by getting food on our way home!
This weekend we have the boys basketball squad who warmed up for their tournament by taking on the teachers on Friday night. They are starting to really develop and show progress and nearly gave the teachers a shock by beating them. It was great to see the whole school watching the event and supporting each other in the typically Luctontian Way!!! Certain staff members could be heard screaming for their favourite players to score!
We also will attend our first rowing competition this weekend too. Our team of Cindy Xiao, Coco Pan, Olivia Zhao, Olivia Qian will compete against other shanghai schools. It’s great to see our students being busy on the weekend with sport and we will look to keep adding events every week! Finally, this cannot be done without support from our excellent sports staff and other school staff members who all give up their time to offer extra events!
Good luck this week, all our Luctonians representing the school!
